Welcome to Zickler Pottery

My name is Deborah Zickler and I am a Teaching Artist born and raised in Washington, DC, and have lived in the DMV for most of my life. I am passionate about making functional artwork as well as teaching children to think more abstractly and independently and process their emotions through making art. 

 

I graduated from The Corcoran College of Art and Design, worked for a paint-your own pottery studio, and then taught art full time at a DC Private School (Grades 6-12), where I was trained in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in the classroom. During my years teaching, I gained experience working with students with a wide variety of learning support and emotional support needs, developed social justice centered lessons for my classroom, and facilitated DEI workshops for 6th-8th graders. 

 

I am currently establishing a studio in Northwest, DC where I will offer classes, clay workshops, and other art experiences. Please keep up with this space for more information to come!
